Treatment No.3

Today is one of the many milestones that will be coming my way. It is my third and mid-way point in my chemo treatments. I am feeling a bit weak today, started my steroids yesterday and when I am taking them I don't feel like myself. Eating was hard this morning but I went to Whole Foods to pick up my lunch to eat while I am in treatment and got all good stuff for my body.

Today line-up:
* first things first is my blood work and my genetic testing. My genetic testing will be sent off today and results will come back in the next three weeks. My genetic testing is to find out if I have the breast cancer gene. I will explain more later. The breast cancer gene is quite interesting information.
* my port will be set up for treatment.
* meet with my oncologist to get my many questions answered and make sure I am on track and healthy. I usually have any where between 15 and 20 questions and still feel like there is so much to cover.
* I will be taken to the infusion room for 5 hours treatment.

The run down for the drugs I am getting today, for those of you that like the details.
1. Carboplatin:750
2. Taxotere: 125
3. Herceptin: 340
4. Benedryl: 25
5. Steroids/decadron
6. Anti-nausea/ caitro

My liver and kidneys are functioning properly which is great news and I will get my heart checked at the end of December.

Lisa is with me today at treatment so we will have lots of girl time. We may watch a movie and catching up on reading. Will be a fun day.
